Wall House Museum at La Pointe on Gustavia Harbor showcases artifacts
and photos of Saint-Barthélemy's past, housed in a recently restored
historic building. This Gustavia Museum features ship
models and mock-ups of traditional houses called cases. These homes had
thick walls with either tin or straw roofing. For an outdoor
historical adventure, try Fort Gustave, which sits at the northernmost
part of the harbor. It displays ruins of stone ramparts, old canons, a
powder house and sentry box. The brick-floored bakery is interesting as
well, a sign of the times. Hike in and around this area for some great
