If you're looking into St. Croix condo rentals for your next vacation, you should note this is an island full of life and excitement. Don't let the island's relatively small size fool you, as there is plenty here to keep you busy. From deep below the ocean's surface to beer drinking pigs, St. Croix has something for everyone.
1. Festivals
The island's largest festival is a Carnival named the "Crucian Christmas Festival" by the locals. It is celebrated in the final days of December and into early January with parades and street performers. Throughout the year there are other significant festivals as well as smaller ones such as Sunset Jazz, where musicians play music on the sands of Fredricksted once a month.
2. Beer Drinking Pigs
The pigs of Montpellier Domino Club need little introduction. Tourists and locals alike rave about these animals who will beat you to the bottom of a cold glass of beer. Of course, the beer the pigs drink is non-alcoholic, but there is a large selection of regular beer for you to try.
3. Historical Sites
As St. Croix has been inhabited for many years, there are of course many historical sites and ruins to take in here. One local favorite is the Whim Plantation. This is a restored sugar mill and plantation from the Danish. You will also find ruins along Mt. Washington and in many other beach side areas. Entry fees are generally low.
4. Ante up at the Divi Carina Bay Casino
The first and only casino in the U.S. Virgin Islands, you can place bets from 12 p.m. until 4 a.m. Sunday to Thursday and until 6 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
5. Golf
Just imagine the Caribbean views you'll take in while playing the front or back nine of a course built in paradise. St. Croix offers 2 full, 18-hole courses and one 9-hole course. The Buccaneer course and the Carambola Golf Club are the full-service sites, with a shorter trip on the links available at The Reef Golf Club.
6. SCUBA
An attraction all it's own on St. Croix, the more than 100 scuba diving sites are inviting to divers of all skill ranges. From an off-shore, underwater dumpster teaming with fish to a 1,000-foot sea whale, you'll want to make sure to check out local dive shops. Don't miss the sightings of everything from manta rays to whale sharks.
