See Historical Sites & Museums near Your Heidelberg Rental

Visit historical sites and museums when you stay at a Heidelberg rental to get to know more about the culture and heritage of Germany. Around the Heidelberg vacation homes, you will find a spread of interesting landmarks that date back to many centuries ago as well as museums that house historical artifacts and works from master artists.

Heidelberg Castle

The most famous landmark in Heidelberg is no other than the Heidelberg Castle. Found on top of a plateau overlooking the Old Town, this castle can be accessed by climbing on foot or by using the mountain railway from Kornmarkt. At the castle courtyard, you will see different styles of architecture, which is the main proof that the castle was constructed in different time periods.

Bridge Gate

The Bridge Gate is another must-see site in the area. It is located at the old town near the Neckar River. Two white towers are located beside the bridge gate. The west tower was used as a dungeon while the east tower is where you'll find a spiral staircase.

Museum of Ancient Art

This museum contains Georg Friederich Creuzer's collection of archaeological finds, antique paintings and sculptures which was donated in 1835 to the University of Heidelberg. All the artifacts found in this place, which come from 4000 BC to the late Greek and Roman periods, are well preserved.

Palatinate Museum

Located in Palais Morass, this museum was constructed by J.A. Breunig in 1712. Today, it contains Roman artifacts and artworks that date back to the 15th to 20th century. Works of famous names like Carl Philipp Fohr, Carl Rottman and Tilman Riemenschneider can be found in this museum.
