Local Cuisine close to Puerto Vallarta Vacation Villas

If you are planning on a vacation to Puerto Vallarta, or PV as it is often called, check out the accommodation options offered by Puerto Vallarta vacation villa. PV houses several restaurants that offer a variety of cuisines. Here are some of the places that may interest you.

Epochá

This is an open-air restaurant and bar located on Los Muertos beach. You can choose tables inside the typical Mexican style restaurant with a tiled roof and white walls, or under a covered patio on the beach; the bar is located at an end of this patio. On the beach, individual tables are placed under palapas. Epochá offers excellent Latino food at reasonable prices. Some of the commendable dishes include shrimp tacos, which consist of corn tortillas with fried shrimps and vegetables topped by a creamy sauce and avocado sauce; mexiprawns; and Garnachas. Epochá is famous for its margaritas and mojitos. The staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is casual.

Daiquiri Dick's

This is a casual open-air restaurant on Los Muertos beach. It offers Mediterranean and pan-Asian menus. The lemon grass-scented gazpacho and lobster tacos are commendable. For a light meal, you can try the salmon nicoise salad. The main course includes delicacies such as whole grilled snappers, giant grilled prawns in a chimichuri marinade, and rib-eye steak. The chocolate banana-bread pudding is also worth trying.

Mestizo

The most distinct factor about this restaurant is its garden setting. It is housed in an old, restored home, under an arrayan tree. It offers traditional, exotic Mexican food. Some of its specialties include grilled meat with cactus and chicken with corn fungus. The beef medallions and red snapper fillet with Poblano cream sauce are especially worth trying. With the unique, relaxed ambience, Mestizo offers a lovely experience.

Vitea

This is a beachfront bistro that offers international cuisine. The restaurant has bistro-style seating arrangements with tables and wrought-iron chairs. The back walls of the restaurant are covered with mirrors that are so placed as to offer a view of the ocean to each table. The menu includes some tasty starters--fresh Greek salad and shrimp tempura with spicy garlic and pumpkin seeds. For the main course, you can choose from among a variety of delicacies--chickpea ravioli with Portobello mushrooms or Barbecue red snapper with spinach.

El Repollo Rojo (Red Cabbage Café)

This is a tiny café located in Calle Rivera del Rio. The café has an excellent traditional Mexican menu. Some of its specialties include "Chiles en Nogada." This Mexican delicacy is made of stuffed Poblanos. The stuffing is made of beef, raisins, and pine nuts. These are topped with a sweet walnut cream sauce and then generously sprinkled with pomegranates and finally served cold. For the main course, you can also try the Mexican plate--steak, Chile Relleno, Guacamole, Quesadilla, beans, and rice. The café also offers a large vegetarian menu.
