El Torcal de Antequera Nature Reserve

The El Torcal de Antequera Nature Reserve can be found in the Sierra del Torcal mountain range at the south end of the Antequera city. With one of the most remarkable 'karst' landscapes on the continent, it is well known for its abnormal landforms and rocky terrain. The nature reserve is accessible by car along a paved road just outside of the Villanueva de la Concepcion village. At the parking area of the reserve, you will find an interpretive center along with a small gift shop. There are 3 main hiking trails that have been color-coded in order to differentiate between the distances of the hiking trails. As a result of the high humidity of the climate and the extreme temperatures, visitation is recommended during the spring and fall seasons.
