Your Andalucía Resort Catalog, plus 5 Romantic Attractions

Your Andalucia resort is located in the romantic town of Ronda, surrounded by beautiful architecture, mosaics and breathtaking landscapes waiting to be explored. Vamoose recommends the following must see attractions.

1. El Museo del Vino de Ronda

Before you return to your Ronda rental home, spend the afternoon at the Ronda Wine Museum. Browse the museum exhibits and learn more about the local and delightful wines of Andalucia. After you have completed your tour of the winery museum, return to the courtyard for a wine tasting. Tastings include rose, red and white wines. The Ronda Wine Museum is open daily and the cost for admission is 10 Euros.

2. El Tajo

The highlight of El Tajo is the 200-year-old stone bridge that connects and divides the old "La Ciudad" and the new "El Mercadillo" sections of Ronda. Two different walking paths lead to a look out with views of Puente Nuevo and the waterfalls. Visitors have a choice of a half-hour walk along a path that winds through the mills below or a 20-minute walk to the upper mills with views of the Arch of Christ, the Arabic Arch and the Moorish gate. From this view it is understandable how the near-inaccessible town was at one time the capital of the Islamic kingdom. Pack a basket of Spanish wine, olives and cheese and enjoy the view.

3. Alcazaba

In the southern plateau of Ronda are the ruins of the Alcazaba, once a Moorish fort and castle. The castle was destroyed in 1808 by French troops. From the Alcazaba the plateau looks like a tapestry of green intermixed with houses and ruins. Visitors can stroll along the Paseo de San Francisco, a pass that leads to a Moorish gate called the Puerta de Almocavar (Almocavar's Door) and into the town of San Francisco. In the town, meander through the streets taking in the mix of Gothic, Renaissance and Moorish architecture.

4. Casa del Rey Moro

The House of the Moorish King is the perfect place to spend a late morning. The grand mansion was built over the place of an ancient Muslim palace. La Casa del Rey Moro is surrounded by garden terraces with exquisite views. From the highest point, visitors descend the 365 steps of La Mina that were cut through the rock by Christian slaves during the 14th century down to the river. While the mansion is not open to the public, the gardens are open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily.

5. El Puente Nuevo

The New Bridge was built in 1788 and is located just past the Spanish Plaza. El Puente Nuevo crosses the narrowest point of the Guadalevin River and provides a spectacular view of the 330-feet-deep gorge. El Puente Nuevo is the perfect spot to watch the sunset while sipping a Spanish Rioja.
