Castle of Denia

Sitting on top of a hill in the heart of the town, the Castle of Denia is one of the most frequented tourist spots in the area. It has been restored to preserve its remains, which date back to 14th century. Here, you will see interesting Muslim porticos and towers as well as ancient walls from the old palace. It was first built as a defensive fort but the turn of the 20th century, the terraces of the castle had become a venue for the production of raisins that were moved from Denia to England and other countries in Europe. The castle is a wonderful site because it provides guests with splendid coastal and city views.

Museum of Archaeology

Within the Denia Castle, you will find a building called Governor's palace. Inside this palace sits the Museum of Archaeology, which features an amazing collection of treasures, coins, pottery, ancient artifacts, and even human remains. Most of the historical objects found in the museum were hidden since 200 BC. The museum is divided into sections, each of which represent a period in Denia history including the Iberian times, the Muslim Era, and the Christian period up to the 18th century. Touring the museum will not only leave you awestruck but also teach you valuable lessons about the culture and history of the place.

Toy Museum

The kid in you would be delighted to visit the Denia Toy Museum, which houses an incredible array of metal and wooden toys created during the early 20th century. It contains mostly toys from the first toy company in Denia, which was established in 1904. Most of the toys from this company were tin plate but ten years from its first opening date, the factory also begun to produce wooden toys. In fact, the quality wooden toys from this toy company made Denia popular as a toy manufacturer. The toys on display include lorries, kitchens, games, carriages and cowboys and Indians.

Safari Park

Just a 15-minute drive from Denia, you will find a Safari Park nestled on the outskirts of the nearby town Vergel. The Safari Park features all sorts of wild animals including lions, tigers, leopards, elephants, and even some sea creatures like sea lions. Animal shows also take place during different times of the day. It is best to take note of the schedules so you don't miss out on these. Also, remember to keep the windows closed when you visit the enclosure areas. Tourists who ignore warning signs can face risks of being eaten by lions and tigers.
