Bars and Clubs close to Mammoth Mountain Condos

Mammoth is a ski destination first and foremost, and as is fitting for a town full of skiers, there is a large selection of bars and clubs within an easy crawl of any of the Mammoth Mountain condos.

During the ski season, people often make the pilgrimage to Mammoth in groups, so the bar scene can get rocking. With Mammoth being a car drive away from LA, Saturday is the big night of the week, as people are still driving in on Friday. For bar hopping, the town divides itself figuratively, as well as geographically, between old and new. Depending on the location of your Mammoth mountain condos, your bar and club choices might vary. Here is a sampling of what to look for.

Slopeside

The best party often starts right where the skis come off. The Main Lodge boasts the Tusks Bar, large, loud and often packed with revelers enjoying the après ski live band. Across the parking lot is the popular Yodler, a long-time Mammoth fixture with an old-fashioned Alpine feel to its post-slope party. Around the mountain, adjacent to Canyon Lodge is The Austria Hof and its inviting happy hour of imported beers and fine liquors. This old-style bar/restaurant is lesser known, but a fun after ski haunt.

In Town

After the ski day, vacationers will regroup at their mountain condo and the next round of partying starts in the community Jacuzzi. As night falls, expect the bars to fill back up again for the evening rally.

For a lively atmosphere of pool, darts and lots of televised sports, Grumpy's on Old Mammoth Road is the locals' favorite destination.  Whiskey Creek, found at the corner of Main Street and Minaret, was once the singular choice for those in search of a drinking and dancing nightspot. Today there are more options, but Whiskey Creek is still a great choice for those in search of live bands and an appropriately crowded dance floor.

The Village

The newest addition to the Mammoth nightlife scene is The Village, located at the base of the town lift on Minaret Road. The Village has abundant bars and eateries, so strolling from location to location is made simple.

Hyde Lounge is Mammoth's newest and perhaps hippest nightlife spot. Celebrity D.J.'s, bottle service and all the sophistication you would expect from an L.A. bar (there are two Hyde Lounges in Los Angeles) is now found at the Mammoth Village.

Downstairs from The Hyde, you'll find The Auld Dubliner. This Irish themed bar caters to a lively, ready-to-party crowd. They have a band on the weekends and are often busy during a bad weather, or good sports watching, afternoon.

The Side Door at The Village is a gem of a spot. It is an intimate wine bar with a cozy atmosphere, offering specialty wines and liquor. Open until midnight, the friendly staff will guide you through your selections. This small size bar lends itself to conversation and interaction with other patrons. The Side Door is a breath of fresh air in the large bar, Mammoth Village scene.
