When vacationing at one of the many great Mammoth Lake rentals,
be sure to take the time to discover the Village at Mammoth. Connected
to the ski mountain by a ten-passenger gondola, The Village has become
the activity epicenter of this great resort community.
Mammoth
has always been an incredible ski destination. As the mountain grew in
popularity, it also began attracting year-round visitors who came for
the biking, golfing, hiking and other outdoor recreation. In the early
2000s a new "Alpine" style village was developed to create a focal point
for community activity and a center for tourists and locals to gather,
socialize and enjoy. At the heart of The Village is the town lift, which
shuttles skiers to and from the slopes at Canyon Lodge. Surrounding the
lift is a cobblestone pedestrian mall that meanders through an exciting
collection of retail and dining establishments.
Food and Drink
Within The Village there are a variety of eating and drinking options
appealing to just about every taste. From the casual or take-out
eateries such as Ben & Jerry's, Old New York Deli and Bagel, or
Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, to the full service restaurants like
Gomez's, Sushi Rei or the upscale Hyde Lounge, there is a menu for every
palate.
For a fun dining experience, try The Lakanuki, which
claims to be the only tiki bar in the eastern Sierras, (a claim that's
easy to believe)! With Polynesian themed décor, they offer happy hour
Mai Tais and an après ski styled menu with burgers, tacos and ribs. It
is a friendly atmosphere with a lively social scene, catering to all age
groups.
Another great choice is The Side Door. Part coffee
shop, part wine bar, The Side Door offers fine wines by the glass or
bottle, and quality coffees. They also offer a gourmet food menu with
crepes, Panini and wonderful deserts. They open at 7am for a quick bite
before hitting the slopes, and stay serving late for that after dinner
Nutella and Banana Crepe you just can't live without.
Shopping
For the shoppers among us, there is an eclectic mix of retail
establishments to pique every interest. For fine apparel, try Chatto,
First Street Leather or Tonik. The Lingerie Lounge is there if you need
something to heat up those cold mountain nights, or shop McCoy's Sports
for unique, "Mammoth lifestyle" clothing.
If it's outdoor
equipment you seek, try Quicksilver specializing in surf, ski and skate,
or Surefoot, dedicated to ski and athletic footwear comfort.
Events
Throughout the year The Village hosts outdoor entertainment events,
concerts and festivals. There is a beer fest, a jazz fest, a village
fest and a fest for just about every holiday. The summer months bring
Movies Under the Stars, a Thursday night concert series and A Taste of
the Sierras celebration. The village is the place to go for a rocking
good time while enjoying your Mammoth
lake rentals vacation!
