A Directory of Keystone Vacation Rentals, and 8 Free Activities for Travelers

Family fun at  Keystone vacation rentals can be fun and memorable and even free. Knowing where to look for free activities around the Keystone Resort will save you money without costing you memories. What is offered will vary by season. Finding local free activities will help you stretch your dollar farther and maximize the value you get outside of your Keystone vacation home.

In most cases, the free activities are free with coupons found inside an Adventure Passport coupon book available inside the Resort. The passport will be given to you at check-in if you're staying at the resort. If you're not a guest, you'll need to speak with guest services about obtaining an Adventure Passport. Activities are available to both resort guests and visitors.

Summer Activities

1. Mountain bike clinic: You'll receive instruction on how to make the most of your next off-road bike experience. What better place to learn than the back hills of Colorado? You'll need to either have your own bike or rent one.

2. Fly fishing: Learn how to bait a hook and reel in the big ones with the fly fishing clinic. The landscape couldn't be more serene and beautiful. Your guide will take you to hot spots so you can increase your chances of catching "the one that got away" for someone else.

3. Gold panning: This is an adventure for your young child. Come along with him or her in hopes of finding gold in the water and striking it rich. Guides will talk about the history of gold mining in the region. You and your child will be learning while playing in this hands-on experience.

4. Mountain Trek: The views are free and so is the workout. You'll trek to the summit of Dercum Mountain while learning about local animals, nature and history. If a mountain trek is outside of your comfort level, a lower stress family nature hike is offered. There is also a guided beaver prowl to see beavers building dams.

5. Free golf: With the exception of snowy winters, you'll be able to take a free round of golf in on the night you check into the Resort. There are also clinics available to every age group to help your game. These are also free.

Winter Activities

6. Skating and hockey: A large ice skating rink is open from late fall into early spring and offers you the chance to test your grace and balance. If you prefer hockey, lace up and grab a stick. You can go face-to-face with friends and family or with perfect strangers. The rink is open into the spring and offers a chance at a sport you may have a hard time finding at home.

7. GPS treasure hunt: You'll get the starting and stopping latitude and longitude points, but the adventure and treasure found along the trails is up to you.

8. Fudge-making: For a different kind of activity, the fudge-making workshop will allow you to watch as fudge goes from ingredient to fudge to all gone. You'll be able to taste your own unique creation by the time the day is done.
