Curious Critters Ski School at Eagle's Nest on the mountain lets kids learn about the wildlife of the Rocky Mountains from Gore Range Natural Science School Naturalists. Each weekly program focuses on a different category of winter inhabitants from Jumpers to Climbers and from Diggers to Flyers. Drop-in visits for this free activity are available daily at the Nature Discovery Center, at the Porcupine Alley entrance Monday's from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Tuesday's at the foot of Golden Peak from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Look for the 'Stop for a Nature Lesson' sign or a naturalist sporting a red jacket.
Let kids experience the thrill of snowmobiling on Blizzard Speedway in mini-snowmobiles designed to cruise along at child-friendly speeds. Rides are every 30 minutes Tuesday to Saturday from 2:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. for $25 per person.
Join the Kids for Some Fun
Grab the kids and commandeer a tube, jump on a lift and zoom down the multi-lane tubing hill for a thrilling ride. Then get back on the easy-access surface lift for another run. Located at Eagle's Nest,go up and down as often as you like for $25 per person Tuesday to Saturday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Trampolines have been providing fun for kids of all ages for years, but when harnessed into a bouncing bungee you're sent soaring sky-high to perform daring acrobatic feats without fear. Fly high for $10 per person Tuesday to Saturday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Grown Up Fun
Eagle's Nest offers a truly unique adventure with Ski Biking guided tours, a Vail original that's part ski and part bike. Designed for intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders, this night-time tour offers a challenge as well as a thrill. Ride time is up to 2 hours for $65 per person, 14 years and up with a minimum height restriction of 54 inches tall. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling (970) 754-8245.
New to Adventure Ridge are the late-afternoon and evening guided Trikke Skki tours. Using patented technology, the Trikke Skki allows riders to use body weight to camber or carve into turns providing control over speed and direction using a three-ski stance. 90 minute tours are available Tuesday through Saturday nights from 4:45 p.m. to 7 p.m. Riders over 14 years of age and at least 54 inches tall are welcome to give it a whirl.
