Tarkiln Bayou Preserve State Park
Also in the Perdido Key area is the Tarkiln Bayou Preserve. This preserve is home to four species of endangered plants and nearly 100 rare species of plants and animals. Specimens found in the park include the Alligator Snapping Turtle, the Sweet Pitcher plant, and the Chapman's Butterwort. Yellow River Marsh Preserve State Park
A few miles north of the Perdido Key area is the Yellow River Marsh Preserve.
