Explore the Waters of Fort Desoto Park

The park's 1,136 acres are comprised of five interconnected islands called keys offering an adventurous 10-mile trip around Mullet Key, the largest island, or a leisurely paddle on the inland 2.25-mile canoe trail. To circumnavigate Mullet Key takes 3 to 4 hours, but it's a great way to discover the diversity of this saltwater environment. Along the way paddle into root-entangled waters of a mangrove forest where you may catch sight of dolphins and manatees, pull up on a patch of white sand to rest awhile or visit the remains of the Fort that was used as gunnery and bombing range during World War II.
