City Opera House
This beautiful opera house is located on East Front Street. The building was constructed in 1891, and it was the community's main gathering place for many years. It closed to 1920 and was later restored. A variety of events are hosted at the opera house including live performances and community events.
Dennos Museum Center
The museum center is a good place for people of all ages to visit. It's conveniently located at Northwestern Michigan College. A highlight of the museum is its permanent collection of Inuit artwork. This display includes drawings, prints and sculptures. The art exhibits are changed on a regular basis, with both historic and contemporary art featured. Children can visit the Discovery Gallery and find plenty of things to interest them. The Milliken Auditorium hosts concerts and other events.
Grand Traverse Lighthouse Museum
The museum is located in nearby Northport at the site of the Grand Traverse Lighthouse. The lighthouse is one of the oldest lighthouses on the Leelanau Peninsula. The exhibits have a lot of interesting information about the lives of lighthouse keepers. You'll also learn more about the maritime history of the area. A picnic area is provided for guests to enjoy a meal. There's also a gift shop onsite.
