  1. Brices Cross Roads National Battlefield Site
    This Civil War site is home to the June 10, 1864 battle between the Kentucky Confederate brigade and the Federal cavalry. The battle lasted for hours until the Confederate soldiers got the upper hand. The Federal soldiers retreated and faced destruction until the United States Colored Troops saved the surviving cavalry. Visit Brices Cross Roads and Interpretive Center every day of the year. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Sunday hours are 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admittance fee is $8 per vehicle and educational tours are available. After visiting the site, check out the short film, gift shop and Civil War museum.
  2. Vicksburg
    Vicksburg is the site where a Civil War battle waged for almost four months in 1863 until the Northern soldiers won. This site is also where you'll find the Vicksburg National Cemetery. More than 17,000 graves of Civil War soldiers lie here. There is the USS Cairo Gunboat and Museum. This museum holds the shipwreck remains of a Union gunboat and some 1,300 other monuments. Park fees are $8 per vehicle.
  3. Siege of Corinth
    Union and Confederate soldiers fought for control of the town of Corinth. The Northern soldiers took control of the town after Southern soldiers left. A battle followed, but the Union soldiers maintained control. Much of the Civil War era buildings still remain intact. Visitors can see the site by car or walking tours.
  4. Tupelo National Battlefield
    Tupelo is located on a one-acre battle site. This site is where Major General Sherman successfully prevented Southern troops from taking Federal supplies near Tennessee. The battle lasted for two days. There are small monuments on site, but no visitor's center.
  5. Battery Robinette
    This battlefield in Corinth is preserved through monuments, a national military cemetery, cannons, interpretive center and much more. Visitors will see many graves at the cemetery and along the roadways. The interpretive center has a hospital and nursing relics of the Civil War on display.
  6. Champion Hills
    This was the decisive and bloodiest battle of Vicksburg. Take a guided tour of this battlefield with ancestors of a family who lived through the battle on Champion Hills. You'll see famous landmarks, the grave site of a high-ranking general and more.
