Western North Carolina Nature Center is a place of education and experience. The company provides living exhibits of animals and plants living in the Appalachian region of North Carolina. Western North Carolina Nature Center is one of the few centers in the United States re-introducing red wolves into the wild.

The center is open all year round and invites everyone to visit. They're only closed on major holidays. Come daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Doors lock at 4:30 p.m. Pay $8 for adults and $4 for kids.

Craggy Gardens

Craggy Gardens offers great hiking trails, native plants and wildflowers. Located in Blue Hills Parkway, this attraction provides outstanding views of the Appalachians. Many visitors come to see the wildflowers and vistas. It's also a Natural Heritage Area and a very romantic place for couples.

There are several trails worth checking out when you arrive. The Craggy Garden Trail is a short trail of flowers and natural habitat. Douglas Falls and Craggy Pinnacle Trails are just as beautiful and interesting. Both provide long hikes and plenty of nature seeing.

The North Carolina Arboretum
