hospital was named in the memory of Karen Beasley and is run by her
mother - Jean Beasley. Looking at these extremely cute animals getting
better is very exciting and interesting for children and adults of all
ages.
If you do plan on visiting the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle
Hospital it's a good idea to check the opening times before leaving
your vacation rental home. This is because the hospital will only open
its doors on weekends at certain times of the day.
You can have
a free guided tour around the hospital, however these are very popular.
You should visit early to get the best tour possible. As this is a
non-profit organization donations are appreciated. There is also a gift
shop where you can help to support the hospital.
North Topsail Beach
North Topsail Beach is not as popular as many of the other sandy
beaches but is still very interesting to visit. This is a working
fishing pier which is great to bird watch from. Taking a pair of
binoculars can make this very enjoyable.
Visiting at sunrise or
sunset will make the views even more scenic. You will also be able to
see many different types of fish which have just been caught. All of
the fishermen are very friendly and will normally talk to you about the
fish or the island.
The cost of tickets for visitors is very cheap. Anyone who plans on fishing off the pier will be charged more.
Belle of Topsail
The Belle of Topsail is a replica of a riverboat which would cruise
up and down the waterways in the 1880s. Although this is a modern
replica the attention to detail is amazing.
The boat itself has
an open top deck, bar and dining room. They regularly run cruises
around the island which last for around one hour. The two-hour sunset
cruises are also very popular. Cruises are available seven days a week
however due to the popularity it's sensible to book in advance.
