Bishop's Palace

The house was built between 1887 and 1892 and first occupied by the Gresham family. Colonel Walter Gresham was an influential man in the railroad business, as well as a member of the Texas Legislature. The home has withstood some of Galveston's worst storms without significant damage. The American Institute of Architects considers the palace to be one of the most important Victorian homes in the country. It is also a National Historic Landmark.
