Kimball Art Center
Located in nearby Park City is the Kimball Art Center. The KAC has three galleries and hosts different exhibitions every six to eight weeks. The "Papel Chicano, Works on Paper: From the Collection of Cheech Marin" is one of the exhibits presented in the Main Gallery. This exhibit is a series of drawings that were created at the beginning of Cheech Marin's artistic career. KAC's Annual Holiday Display is presented in the Garage Gallery. This contains glass ornaments made by local artists and wreaths made by the students of the Kimball's Young Artists' Academy. On the center's lower level is the Badami Gallery. This gallery holds special exhibits, such as the "Gowns to Die For." This exhibit showcased opera gowns that were made by the Utah Symphony and Opera Costume Shop.
This gallery is a non-profit, free to the public and open year round. A visit to this art center would be a nice day trip from your Deer Valley vacation home.
Egyptian Theatre Company and the Eccles Center
Also located in Park City is the Egyptian Theatre Company. This is a live theater company that presents musicals, comedies, dramas and special entertainment events. ETC also has a Youth Theatre program, which teaches young people about theater and presents shows targeted towards them. Shows are presented year round and student discounts are available.
The Eccles Center is another Park City performance center. The Eccles Center presents concerts throughout the year. It offers comedy, dance and theater performances as well. Outdoor concerts are held rain or shine; discount tickets are available. Past performers at the Eccles Center include Willie Nelson, Wynonna Judd, Michael Douglas and One Republic.
Park City Museum
The Park City Museum is another artistic offering. Located on the city's Main Street, the museum seeks to preserve, protect and promote Park City's history and heritage. One of the exhibits on display is the "New Harmonies" exhibit, which includes different musical albums, artifacts and stories from Park City history. The museum also gives a walking tour of Park City's Main Street. Main Street is a very historic area and the museum tour highlights its evolution. The museum is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Child discounts are available; children six and under are admitted for free.
