Park City, Utah is not only a winter enthusiast's dream, but it also offers many great festivals and events throughout the year that will compliment any trip to this mountainous city. While staying at a Park City Rental Home, visitors will not only have all the comforts of home, but will also have a great new city awaiting exploration.
Sundance Film Festival
This is probably Park City's most famous annual festival, held in January. The Sundance Film Festival is the largest independent cinema film festival in the US, and each year independent filmmakers from all over the world pour into Park City to showcase their work. The festival features competitive sections for Feature length, as well as Short films, and also showcases non-competitive groups such as Spectrum, and Park City at Midnight. Robert Redford chairs the Sundance Film Festival, and moved the festival from Salt Lake City to Park City, Utah in 1981. The festival grows in size and popularity each year, and in 2010 a new Low Budget film category was introduced. Tickets are available for purchase to view some of the films being showcased, but just walking around and getting involved in the buzz of the festival can be a big highlight of a Park City visit.
Park City Jazz Festival
This is presented by The Park City Jazz Foundation (PCJF) each year, usually towards the end of August. The Park City Jazz Foundation is a nonprofit organization that promotes the education and performance of Jazz Music. This event is the perfect venue to present and promote local, national and international jazz acts to the public. The PCJF was founded in 1997, and has been holding the Jazz Festival each year to help fund educational programming and musical scholarships. By purchasing a ticket to the Jazz Festival, you can help in this funding. If you like Jazz, or music in general, the Park City Jazz Festival will be a big treat while staying at your rental home.
Park City Kimball Arts Festival
This is held every year in August, and is a fun filled weekend of art. Visitors can enjoy fantastic visual art, local cuisine, drinks and other great art on the historic Main Street in the heart of Park City. Artists from all over the country come to Park City to display their work. More than 200 artists will be given the opportunity to showcase their work, and the public will be able to take in the art while listening to some of the live music acts. The festival is fun for the whole family, with face painting and art projects for kids, beer and wine gardens for the adults and great art for everyone. Tickets prices are $10 for adults and $5 for children. In 2009, the Park City Kimball Arts Festival held the 1st Annual Run for the Arts 5K race, and it was a huge success. If you'd like to participate in the run, make sure to register for the Run for the Arts 5K before arriving.
