Downhill Skiing

Alpine Valley Resort in Elkorn, Wisconsin, has 20 runs and 3 chair lifts, as well as snowboarding. Lessons are available for groups, semi-private, or private. Lessons for kids are also available. Lift tickets can be purchased for the day. Grand Geneva Resort at Lake Geneva has 18 runs, 3 chairs, and 2 tows. Lessons are provided for beginner through advanced skiers. A terrain park is available for snowboarders. Cross country skiers has 10 kilometers of cross country trails through beautiful, scenic areas. Kids' skiing lessons are also provided. Tobogganing and snowshoeing are also available at Grand Geneva.

Cross Country Skiing

In addition to Grand Geneva, cross country skiers may go to Big Foot State Park for trails in the 27-acre park. The trails are well marked. Daily or annual trail passes are available. The George Williams Campus of Aurora University allows cross country skiing on weekends, with lessons available. Kettle Moraine State Forest allows cross country skiing. Make sure you get a State Park sticker. Old World Wisconsin has cross country trails open on Friday through Sunday. Ski rentals are available, and a refreshment area is on the premises.

Ice Skating

In addition to Grand Geneva Resort, there are several public areas for ice skating. The Abbey Resort at the Harbor House in Elkorn has a skating rink. Lighted rinks are located at the Baseball Diamond in Sunset Park, Library Park, and Behind the Field House at Williams Bay.
